Mighty Bite Lure Review – Does It Really Help You Catch More and Bigger Fish?

We all want more opportunities to catch fish. We all want to catch more and bigger fish. The lures we tie on the end of our lines are essential to catching these fish. If the lure we attempt to use does not satisfy what these fish want to bite, we are achieving the same results as fishing on dry land. We will never catch anything on our lures unless we give the fish choices.

Without a proper lure, catching fish becomes almost impossible, even when everything else is being done correctly. For many, this can be a problem especially if you don’t know how baits or fishing lures work. This can create problems for fishermen on the water and often make them wonder if it’s their lure or not. I have had the opportunity of being able to fish with and extensively test the Mighty Bite fishing system, lures, and all. To be brief, it is a television product.

I have decided to write a Mighty Bite lure review of this commercial product and let others know how it has been working for me. For the sake of this review, we will be taking a good look at the Mighty Bite basic kit. At one point, this was the very same kit that was advertised on TV. I will be covering what is within the kit, how well the product lives up to its advertising, some pros, and cons about Mighty Bite, and my final thoughts regarding the product. My feelings are mixed.

Pros

  • Catches fish
  • Sharp hooks
  • Appeals to all predator species
  • Plenty of accessories for rigging
  • Instructional DVD included

Cons

  • Expensive (roughly $3 a lure)
  • Does not perform as well as advertised
  • Lack of color and size variations
  • A lot of the system is terminal tackle
  • Not suitable for predators with teeth

What Is Included In The Mighty Bite Fishing System?

The Mighty Bite basic kit comes with ten Mighty Bite fishing lures in varying colors, four extra-wide gap hooks, fourteen adjustable fins, fourteen fin locking pins, twelve rattles, twelve scent sticks, twelve weed guards, one popper head, eight tail weights, three red treble hooks, and three easy attach harnesses. The lures themselves are paddle tail, soft, plastic, swimbait lures with a supposed, “bite” molded into the plastic. Utilizing this bite mark, the commercial advertises the rattles to be inserted into one side and the scent sticks inserted into the other side of the lure. This helps fish find the lure in the water. Not you find the fish.

How Mighty Bite Is Supposed To Work – The Bold Claim

Supposedly, the claim to fame within this product is a revolutionary ability to appeal to all of a fish’s five senses, those being sight, sound, smell, taste, and feel, which overload a predator fish’s senses and make the fish bite. The claim also says that it is also the ONLY lure that does this. That is interesting. When you choose a lure to tie on, you choose different ones for a reason. If you look at the lure, it looks somewhat how I would imagine a dying minnow would look if another animal (maybe a turtle?!) chomped down on the belly. Interesting for sure.

Whether that makes a difference to the fish or not is debatable. The product also comes with rattles that you can insert into the lure so that is it audible to surrounding fish. The smell characteristic is present within the included scent sticks. If you smell them, they smell exactly like fish waste. Gross. You are supposed to insert them into the lure, and they are supposed to dissolve in the water leaving a scent trail back to your bait. I guess it is supposed to smell real.

As far as taste goes, the commercial never really mentions it. They basically point out that the lure tastes like a baitfish for a reason that was never specified. When observing the feel of the lure, it is soft and chewy like real bait, or so they say. This is just one of many lures that are soft and chewy though. The best soft plastic baits for bass are a great example of these lures.

Mighty Bite or Mighty Bad? Does Mighty Bite Catch Fish?

The most important question has yet to be answered. Does the Mighty Bite Fishing System actually help you catch more and bigger fish? This question has a few parts that need addressing separately. Both are very important and play a vital role in deciding whether to add the system to your tackle box. Does the Mighty Bite Fishing System help you catch fish? Yes, but other tackle does too. Does the Mighty Bite Fishing System help you catch more and bigger fish exactly as advertised? NOT IN A HUNDRED MILLION YEARS! Not today, not tomorrow, and not the next.

Does The Mighty Bite System Help You Catch Fish?

The Mighty Bite System does help you catch fish. Let me say it again. It does. When I say that, I am saying that because many people have caught much fish with them. We cannot ignore the fact that many anglers choose it as the only lure they will use. Mighty Bite does help people catch fish but so do other lures, rods, sharp hooks, chicken liver, minnows, and bobbers. Catching fish directly or indirectly, all of these things allow us to be more efficient on the water and without them, fishing would be much harder than it is. The answer to this question is YES.

The Mighty Bite Fishing System helps you catch more fish, however, fishing is a complicated sport on the surface. One product cannot win the sport for you. Not even the revolutionary, patented, five sense, Mighty Bite Fishing System. More and bigger fish are the result of using skills. Not exclusively lures. The lure and terminal tackle are just two aspects of fishing properly. One will require a good rod, good line, good hooks, good learning skills, good patience, and many other factors. In reality, no one will ever be fully equipped. Mighty Bite itself cannot and will not be the reason you are not catching fish because many fishermen catch fish without it.

Does Mighty Bite Help You Catch Fish As Advertised?

We can ask that a different way. Does Mighty Bite help you catch more and bigger fish completely removing the guesswork, essentially doing all the hard work for you, providing an unfair advantage in tournaments, and essentially moving you up the ranks into the territory of the world’s most elite anglers, just like the commercial claims? The answer is certainly no. Nope. Certainly not. Sorry, but not in this lifetime nor any lifetime to come. It just doesn’t happen. No lure has ever been or ever will be capable of accomplishing this miraculous feat. Not one.

Ever since the development of the fishing hook, fishing has always consisted of much more than just the lure. This is why there are so many lures available. The selection of tackle available is on purpose. It isn’t some accident that just magically happened to the fishing industry overnight. You need the selection. If you didn’t, you would not even be reading this review right now. The results would speak for themselves. Rapala created the original wounded baitfish lure.

They are about the closest any company has ever gotten to achieving this status, and not even they can make this claim. Being as rich of a company as they are, the lures made by them are used by many professional fishermen on every continent but Antarctica, yet the narrator of the Mighty Bite commercial said he will sell you something better for twenty or thirty dollars. The commercial even says at one point that you can throw away your tackle box. A very clever marketing tactic, yet ineffective. I am sure every pro bass fisherman would have one tied on.

Who would win in a situation when absolutely every professional fisherman had an unfair advantage over their competition? Say Kevin VanDam went up against Ish Monroe, Mike Iconelli, and Todd Faircloth. Say they all had a Mighty Bite lure tied onto their rods. Who would win that bass tournament? Would it be evenly matched? How about the one with the most skills and the one who knows what they are doing? Yes. Exactly. The one who chooses the right rod finds fish, fishes correctly with the lures, select the right size and color, has the right line, and is patient.

What I Think About The Mighty Bite Fishing System

Personally, I do not think Mighty Bite is any better or worse than any other paddle tail fishing lure on the market. The results are often consistently compared to similar lures, and every other lure for that matter. Its performance is typical. Since it isn’t a reaction bait, it catches fish whenever the fish want to bite it. That’s it. It does the same thing as other paddle tails and I do not think the fish notice any difference. As far as the five senses propaganda depicted in the commercial goes, another similar lure will do equally well if not better when tied on instead.

You can still appeal to the senses if you so choose though. It is still an option. Just because someone doesn’t purchase the Mighty Bite product doesn’t mean they are missing out on these concepts, regardless of what the commercial says. They do help with fishing swimbaits sometimes. Appealing to those senses actually can land you a few more fish from time to time. The makers of Mighty Bite had that part correct. Great idea, poor execution. If going after a highly realistic lure, you are always in the clearest of waters anyway. In that case, a lure like Mighty Bite would do nicely. You can even tie on another pre-rigged swimbait that is much cheaper but will work.

Any other time is not optimal. When you consider smell and taste, you can always buy lure flavors, scents, and other similar products for your lures. You can buy gel and rub it on the bait or purchase a spray and spritz it on before you cast. Attractant actually works and you can find these in literally every flavor too. You are not just confined to the smell of fish waste. They are right by the tackle usually, and they come in flavors like crayfish, shad, panfish, and minnow.

Also, if a fish needs to hear your lure, it is not a problem. You do not need Mighty Bite for that either. Chances are if you find yourself needing a rattle or sound so fish can find your lure, the water is usually stained and you really shouldn’t be throwing a soft plastic lure anyway. Tie on a crankbait, popper, spinner, or another reaction-type lure that has a flash or makes a lot of noise.

A Word Of Caution On Purchasing The Fishing System

Before you leave, please make sure to read this part of the review. This is important to understand before you make a purchase at all. Do not, under any circumstances, purchase the system from the official website, over the phone, or from an affiliated company. Seriously. You will not be paying just $19.95 plus shipping and handling. The way the order page is set up is rather deceptive. They are stealing from anglers. They make it impossible to process your order without opting in to receive the other “bonuses”. You don’t have an option.

On each set, your paying additional shipping and handling as well as for each set. You will be paying four or five times more than what you want to spend. If you really want to give the system a try, consider purchasing from another online retailer like Amazon or eBay. You will not have to deal with terrible customer service on the official website. Even if you send in for a complete refund, the same 100% money-back guarantee that was offered to you first, the shipping and handling will not be refunded and you have to pay to ship it back! It’s terrible!

Even with the unconditional 100% money-back guarantee, they still pocket over twenty dollars for every transaction, no matter if you like it or not. The practice is fraudulent and it fits the legal definition of stealing. Did I mention that they offered a 100% money-back guarantee? It is not there! Not eighty percent, not ninety percent, not seventy percent. In all honesty, these people are crooks, con men, and scam artists. If anybody ever plans to file a lawsuit and take any legal action against them, it would be their own fault for false advertising anyways. These people are not trustworthy! Only purchase it from somebody you can trust. I doubt these guys even fish.

Mighty Bite Is a Very Average Lure – Not Unique At All

Do not get me wrong when I say this. The Mighty Bite Fishing System is a good way to catch fish. The lure for what it is is not a bad one at all. As a matter of fact, the lure itself is actually quite good. Swims frantically displaces water and attracts hungry predators. It does exactly what an angler would want a soft plastic paddle tail lure to do in the water. The problem arises when the marketers of this lure say that it is the only lure you will ever need because it is the only one capable of triggering all of the predatory senses of fish. It is not true. Many others exist.

Many soft plastic lures can be used instead to produce much the same results. While it does catch fish, Mighty Bite is unlikely to change the game for you. Also, all soft plastic baits can be manipulated to enhance their fish-catching capabilities. On top of that, the extra hooks, weed guards, and other terminal tackle that makes up most of the system raise the price tremendously. One can purchase a lot of packs of alternative swimbaits for thirty dollars complete with hooks and then throw it on some good fishing line for similar results.

Have you ever tried the Mighty Bite fishing system? If so, how did it work for you? Did it work as advertised or was it junk? When it comes to As Seen on TV products, everyone is often a skeptic and they have every reason to be. Reply and leave a comment below to let us know how it worked for you! Let us know if you purchased the system and were scammed by the marketers.

  1. I grew up on a lake fishing all year round. I have seen so many great lures over the years. I have noticed that these “gimmick” type lures typically are just a waste of money. I still prefer an old fashion black rubber night crawler in some cases. Even some of the old spoon type lures can produce better results.
I’ve seen a few folks try this Mighty Bite lure with little to no results as advertised. They are also overpriced as you mentioned.

    Reply
    • I agree. A black rubber nightcrawler is an EXCELLENT lure that WILL catch just about anything. Older vintage spoon lures as you mentioned are also excellent at targeting just about everything that swims. You are right about that. I feel bad for those individuals you mentioned that have given their money to gimmick companies like this in order to make a quick buck. Very sad. Maybe we should learn from these. Finally, I agree. The price of this is HUGE! I mean really? You do not get very much and it is kind of ridiculous to be honest. Even so, make sure to contact us if you have any questions or if we can help you further.

  2. Hmm. Just curious. Is this Mighty Bite suitable for freshwater fishing, like on lakes and streams? I am not an avid angler, just an occasional past-time angler.

    Reply
    • It certainly is suitable for freshwater fishing in lakes and streams. As a matter of fact, I recommend that those are the bodies of water where you should throw this lure first. I understand that you may just be an occasional past time angler and that is ok. Other lures may produce better for you if you are just in it to catch some fish and be done. If we ca help you with anything at all, don’t hesitate to contact us again.

    • Hey Andre. Good to see you. This product while pretty decent may not live up to its advertising. If you are actually struggling to get bit, I highly recommend you try live bait first as it is almost foolproof. This lure, while it can be effective, takes some HUGE getting used to. If you have any questions or want to talk, just contact us again.

  4. Wow, this post is great. The content is very professional. Typography and video look very comfortable. I also like fishing, but not as good as you are, I am just an amateur. And I only fished the fish in the lake and the stream. It’s not big, so my bait is often a donkey or a feed made by myself. So I learned a lot from your post. Thank you for your review. This kind of evaluation of real use is most helpful.

I advise against products that are sold to catch anglers instead of fish. It is really shady and I don’t like it. This lure is decent but I don’t think it is worth the price. Again, thank you for the kind feedback. If you have any more questions or concerns, contact us directly.

  5. Hi David, very professional review on Mighty Bite Lure. Personally, i never tried this brand, but i know that to be a good lure, the product should have quality hooks, lifelike finishing and shape and the balance of the lure body is quite important. I have tried Abu Garcia Lure before, not bad to me.

    Reply
    • Thank you for your kind feedback. The product has excellent hooks, the finishing on the lure is mediocre, and the balance is off by some. The paddle tail swimbaits by Abu Garcia are comparable yet much cheaper. I love them too. They make great products. Thanks for the comment. 6. Hi David
That is one interesting review of a fishing lure. I am not an experienced fisherman, but find it relaxing when I do, mainly for trout. My question is as follows. Do you think that this lure will be good for absolute beginners, or do you feel that it will put them off fishing?

    Thank You
    Antonio

    Reply
    • Hello Antonio. Trout is always a fun species to catch. To answer your question, no. I certainly do not recommend this lure if you are a beginner. I highly advise against it. It will certainly put you off and make it so much harder for you. I always recommend a small crankbait if you are just starting out. This is a larger paddle tail swimbait. You will not catch as many fish with it. If we can help you any further, feel free to contact us once again.

  7. Brilliant differentiation between catching fish, and not doing what it’s advertised for. Marketing genius perhaps, but reviews like this certainly help consumers like me make the right decision for what they’re after. Much appreciated!

    • Hello Josie. Good to see you. You are very correct in saying that. This lure was marketed very well. How much of us gave into the hype? I never did but that is only because I didn’t have any money when the commercials aired on TV. I told myself and my older brother that I would purchase this lure when I could afford it. After the fact, it was not a very good idea. I had to put down an honest review from a fisherman. Other reviews are from the website of those who marketed it. Not a good thing. I am glad it helped you out. If you need anything, feel free to contact us directly via our contact page. Everything goes straight to me. Have a good day.

  9. Hi David,
Interesting lures! Can’t say that I’ve heard of them before. But maybe you can’t get them here in Canada.
My husbands favourites are Rapala by far. But maybe he’d try these if he saw them.
When he wants scent he usually just uses a spray. As long as he can keep catching our Walleyes, I’m happy lol.
    Cheers

    • I agree with him. Rapala lures are incredible. Scents also do play a big role in catching fish too. I love Walleye as well. What’s not to love? Cheers. Take care. 🙂

    • Hello James. You are correct in saying that my friend. Rapala is one of the BIGGEST fishing lure manufacturers in the entire world. The amount of money they make a year is just staggering. Lauri Rapala, the woodcarver from Finland, created the first wounded minnow lure. The brand name is now the golden standard of fishing lures. They are rich as well as huge. No doubt about it at all. Thank you for taking a read. If there is anything we can help you with, feel free to let us know by contacting us directly. Tight lines!

  11. I am watching the commercial for it now and as an avid fisherman/outdoorsman I was skeptical so I googled it and read you review. First thing my wife and I said was it all depends on when and where you are fishing. You just don’t magically cast and reel in and have bass just one right after another attack your lure no matter what it is. Very misleading infomercial. Good review David.

    • Hello Joe. You are so right in saying that. Choosing a lure is so intimidating to so many people that many would just prefer to purchase one and be done with it! 🙂 The issue is that there is not one magical do it all lure in the entire world. Although us anglers can dream, we are really never ever going to find it. Your wife is right. SHE IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY! You can catch fish on it but the fish have to be willing to cooperate. This lure doesn’t make fish bite. Nothing can. Thanks for your comment.

  12. Hi David. I have learned over the years (69) that these infomercials are about 95% hype and, well the rest is truth? They described well, just how much they are like other lures. They just don’t say but you can buy lures just as good or better for less almost everywhere. Thanks for your well laid out presentation.Very informative and educational. Good work!

    • Hello there friend. You are right. If anything, they are a glorified swimbait, which can be bought for cheap. They actually further proved my point by doing this infomercial. Also, they really do not consider exactly what they are doing. Thank you for the very kind feedback. We are glad that you found this information helpful. We hope to hear from you again soon!

    • Hello Sam. I agree with you 110%. You are not the only person this has happened to. The customer service from there is just horrible as well as the price. They do it to everybody! If anything, I recommend you not buy from them, only because they are a bunch of dishonest people with a greedy need for money. I do hope you get your money back. I at least recommend trying an alternative swimbait which is called the Mimic Minnow. It is pretty much the exact same lure, with a few differences. The most notable one is, of course, the price. Very, very cheap swimbait. Another is the absence of a bite mark. Other than that, what the fish see is pretty much identical. Aside from that, thanks for your reply. I hope others see it and be cautious first. Stay hooked!

    • Hello Wanda. This is not uncommon. You are certainly not the first person this has happened too. I do not recommend ANYBODY EVER purchase them, at least not from the official website. The amount of shady business that is keeping them open is not only dishonest, but theft. You probably ordered one order of the lures. The starting price is $19.95 but they charge $7.95 processing and handling. Orders from outside the Continental U.S. add $10.00 to the amount. With that, they have buttons that you need to click before your order is processed. The “no thank you” buttons do not work and it is required to purchase the extras before you get them. This leads to be the order to be over $100 and even if you get a refund, shipping and processing charges will not be refunded. They are still making $20 on every order because of it. Someone needs to file a lawsuit to shut them down for fraudulent activity because they are stealing from people. Wanda, I am no way affiliated with the Mighty Bite company or any of its co-sponsors. I cannot handle any of their sales or offers because I do not work for them. I am in the industry of customer satisfaction.

    • Hello Richard. You are certainly NOT the first person this has happened to. They make it impossible to order the system without ordering more and the commercial is quite frankly lying. If someone wants to try the system, I suggest purchasing from Amazon or other credible online retailer that can be trusted with their money. This would be to avoid compounding costs and other related fees like shipping and processing. The Mighty Bite swimbaits are paddle tails and they are nice, but the price is just not right. I hope somebody files a lawsuit over this soon. It is false advertising. It is illegal! They still charge a non-refundable fee that they keep even if you return it. That is stealing!

My PC microsoft browser would not take me to the official website, first it rerouted me to a porn site then an automotive store. It said the real site was unsafe. I finally found your review. Kudos for a balance well written and informative review. It did reinforce my suspicion that the site was to make money not to sell a viable product. 1st tipoff the huckster type approach to sales. Keep up the good work

    • Thank you for the very kind feedback! We are very pleased that our review was helpful to you! I just don’t get the makers of Mighty Bite and why they would lie to anglers. Makes no sense to me but to each their own I guess. As for a viable product, your right. All to make money and nothing to actually help people catch fish. If they have a good fish catching lure that is new, they should skip TV and do what most new baits do to get noticed. They should take the baits to ICAST shows and other fishing related places. TV is just not the place because many people that fish do not even watch TV. Again, thanks for your comment!

I mistakenly ordered 2 more sets of other things by answering 1, meaning the 1 set I was ordering. Then at the end of the call the line hung up without giving me a change to review the order. Next day I checked my bank account and sure enough $103 had been taken out. How can I contact them to get my money back for the extras I did not mean to order. Feel tricked and would not recommend this might-bite site to anyone.

    • I one hundred percent agree with you, Eddie. Did I also mention that this entire lure set can pretty much be recreated without even ordering it? Let me explain. It is made up of fishing tackle commonly found EVERYWHERE! For instance, this set only has four EWG hooks. A six-pack of Gamakatsu EWG hooks are a few dollars at Walmart and they are so much better quality! Red treble hooks can be bought in bulk for a few dollars too. They connected the treble hooks to regular barrel swivels with split rings, both of which cost barely anything and most fishermen have both already. They give you one popping bobber which costs literally a buck in change. The scent sticks given to you are actually crap (literally) and trust me, you don’t want to touch them with your hands. Use any fish attractant instead! Also, the lures are nothing special. Pre-rigged and unrigged paddle-tail swimbaits. They look very similar to the Mimic Minnow but this is just ONE bait of hundreds that get you the bite when you need fish to hit a swimbait. An alternative would be to use a paddle-tail swimbait. Literally anything else.
